This month we did a quick interview with Gerald Meerschaert. Enjoy below:
Craig Diamond: How did you first get into mixed martial arts?
Gerald Meerschaert: Found out there was a gym in the next town over, tried it one night and never looked back.
CD: Where did you grow up?
GM: A couple different places in Racine, WI and the bulk of it on a horse farm just outside Franksville, WI.
CD: What were you like in High School?
GM: The only extra curricular activity I was in was jazz band, other than that pretty normal kid.
CD: What is the best part of being a pro fighter?
GM: I get to do what I love for a living and help my teammates at the same time.
CD: What do you want to be when you grow up?
GM: When I was young I wanted to be a paleontologist.
CD: What is the most interesting thing about you that you’ve never shared in an interview?
GM: My first car was a '62 Ford Farlane.
CD: What advice would you give your younger self?
GM: Take your time, your record means a lot so don't start fighting until you have a complete skill set.
CD: If you could rule the world for a day, what changes would you make?
GM: Actively begin switching to a 0% carbon emissions society. It's completely possible it's just a matter of doing it.
CD: If you could travel to any moment in history or the future, what would it be?
GML My death, if you know when you die you can take way more risk up to that point.
CD: Have you ever been hit in the groin?
GM: Yes, before I wore a diamond cup it was the worst pain imaginable, now I just laugh it off.
CD: What advice would you give someone just starting out in this sport?
GM: Take your time!
We want to say thank you to Gerald for chatting with us!
