Hey guys, this is Aaron and Niall from Fight Quality today we're testing out green guards again and it is gonna be awful.

Niall:

So today we're reviewing the Diamond MMA cup, Diamond MMA was originally founded as an apparel brand. But then after some discussions with fighters, they decided to move into the groin guard world. Their aim when they started their company was with the most protective groin guard available on the market. So Diamond MMA made their groin guard out of the solid but flexible polycarbonate and they surrounded it with an elastomer support, which is designed to protect your groin muscles on an impact. The polycarbonate itself is the same stuff they use in bulletproof vests, and frankly, who doesn't want bulletproof ball protection. The Diamond MMA cup is designed to be used exclusively with their compression short system, which has a built in jock strap. So the elastic straps prevent the movement of the cup during training. And it also provides all the benefits you get from compression clothing. The downside to this is it can be a little bit tricky to get the cup position properly. But once you've got it in there, it does stay in place really well.

Aaron:

So the diamond MMA cup has actually been mentioned on the Joe Rogan podcast a few times, with Joe holding it up as the standard for other groin guards to meet. And now let's see how it fares in the ultimate test. All right, we've got changed. I've got a shin guard on Niall's got the Diamond groin guard on. Let's give it a kick test.

Niall:

I was really good.

Aaron:

That's fine. Like, how'd you write?

Niall:

That was? Wow. Yeah. I obviously felt like I'd been hit felt the impact but compared to some of the other stuff contested that was, could do that all day.

Aaron:

All right, so now, what did you think?

Niall:

Yeah, so as he said, two out of 10 on the pain scale. The guard itself when you got it positioned properly, feels like supportive for want of a better word. Like I felt the most confident about taking a low blow in the Diamond MMA cup, and I haven't any of the other ones tested so far. The guard stays nice really well, you can move around while you're training. You've got good range of motion without dislodging it, because of their their strap system. And yeah, clearly you can take an impact when you've got it on.
