Inside the Brewers' Lucky Cups: Custom Painted Athletic Cups by Diamond MMA

Diamond MMA makes custom-painted athletic cups: our hard athletic cup, hand-airbrushed with a player's name, number, colors or logo. In October 2026, WISN 12 News in Milwaukee reported that nearly 10 Milwaukee Brewers players were wearing them during the postseason. Custom cups come in adult and youth sizes.

The Brewers' custom athletic cups made the Milwaukee news

On Oct. 22, WISN 12 News reporter TJ Dysart covered the Brewers players wearing custom Diamond MMA cups as the team headed into the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The story notes the Brewers dealt with a string of injuries from pitches this season, which pushed protection up the list. It also reports the team went 7-1 after several players started wearing the cups (as of Oct. 22).

We're not saying the cups won those games. We're not saying they didn't.

Craig Diamond, CEO of Diamond MMA, told WISN the relationship started with the Brewers' equipment manager, who backed the product early. Now players are reaching out on Instagram to ask for cups of their own.

What's on Brice Turang's custom cup?

One of the newest designs belongs to Brewers infielder Brice Turang. It features a gold glove, the Brewers, and his "two-rung" nickname painted along the bottom. Craig planned to hand-deliver it before Game 1 of the World Series.

His take on the finished cups: "These are definitely lucky cups."

What is a custom painted athletic cup?

It's the same Diamond MMA hard cup, finished by hand. Underneath the paint, you get:

• A polycarbonate shell that takes the hit.
• A rubber elastomer rim that softens contact against the body.
• A shape built to deflect and spread the force of an impact, instead of focusing it in one spot.

Then our airbrush artist paints it with the player's design. Same protection. A lot more personality.

What cup should a youth baseball player wear?

A hard cup sized for a young athlete. Baseball brings hard-hit balls, bad hops and wild pitches at every level, and kids need protection that fits them, not an adult cup that sits wrong.

For parents: the Youth High Performance Athletic Cup uses the same hard-cup build the Brewers players wear, with a polycarbonate shell and rubber elastomer rim, scaled to fit a younger player.

The cup is only half of it. For baseball, pair it with the Youth Compression Jock & Athletic Cup System, available in Youth Medium, Youth Large and Youth X Large. Not sure which size? Check the size chart.

Why does the jock matter as much as the cup?

A cup only helps if it stays where it belongs. Diamond MMA jocks use our shift-proof quad strap design: four straps hold the cup snug against the body, so it stays centered while you run, slide, dive and swing. Less adjusting between pitches. More focus on the game.

That's the same setup the pros are wearing. Start with the Compression Jock Short System for adults, or browse everything in our baseball collection. Every Diamond MMA athletic cup comes with a lifetime warranty.
